Eleven years of quiet luxury on the shore of Lake Wakatipu — built from schist, rimu and a belief that hospitality should be personal.
A house above the lake
Optionmomentumhub opened in the winter of 2015 with eleven rooms, one fireplace and a single promise — to know every guest by name.
The building was raised from local schist stone and native rimu timber, set into the hillside above Lake Wakatipu so that every window frames either the lake or The Remarkables. We chose to stay small on purpose: eleven rooms means eleven stories a night, not a crowded lobby.
Over a decade we have added an alpine spa, a casino-inspired lounge and a restaurant built around Central Otago wine — but never another room. Quiet luxury, we have learned, is mostly about what you choose not to add.
Casino atmosphere, never casino gambling
Our lounge carries the romance of an old alpine gaming room — without a single dollar wagered online.
- The salon is a social space, open only to in-house guests
